What
is it exactly?
A series of Moderated Interactive Sessions, Open Demonstrations, Dance Challenges, Tango Performances and Late night Milongas. A time to debrief together on today's vast Tango World, while touring the capital's hottest Tango spots, at the best price.
The goal The goal is to unite tangueros from DC and beyond, to introduce them to an original format of event, an ambitious program of topics. The diversity of backgrounds, styles and experiences of the participants is key to making the first DC Tango Exchange a success. More aware about people approaches and feelings about Tango, you will certainly return home as a more mature tanguero.
The spirit The spirit is to contribute equally, first and foremost as persons. During the Exchange sessions, a summary of the creative ideas being expressed will be marked down and later posted on the web for further use. Not for profit, but for the entertainment and enlightment of a tighter Tango community, more and more creative and expanding.
How does it work? What counts is not your dance level, but your interest in Tango and your willingness to share your views with others. For each Exchange topic, we get together in small groups with experienced DCTX guests. Within each small group, moderators facilitate discussions and demonstrations. At the end of each topic, moderators turn to the other groups and share their group's foundings. But it's not all! Have a look at the detailed program and at the astonishing list of downtown venues in historical DC. A lot of dancing then awaits for you, and even better a lot of Tango.
Who is coming? This first DC Tango Exchange is an open invitation to everyone who is eager to exchange his or her views on Argentine Tango and Tango related topics. Please keep up to speed via our blog where all the participants and moderators will be presenting themselves through out August. Also feel free to post here your comments, questions and feedback. This package will allow you to attend the following program of events. Note that the space will be limitted to 100 participants, therefore early registration is highly recommended.
NB: If you don't register and still wish to come to the milongas, regular door prices apply: Sat $15, Sun $12, Mon $10.
